Maharashtra Weather Alert: Lightning And Thunderstorms To Affect Sindhudurg, Satara, And More

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several regions in Maharashtra, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over the coming days. Residents in affected areas are urged to stay cautious and follow safety guidelines as weather conditions may cause disruptions.

Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Satara, and Sangli: These regions are expected to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kilometres per hour at isolated locations.

Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal: A thunderstorm warning has also been issued for these districts, with the possibility of lightning strikes in isolated places. While the rainfall may not be as heavy, lightning can still be hazardous, and precautions should be taken, particularly in rural areas where structures may be less protected.

Today, on October 8, the temperature will range between 26 and 35 degrees Celsius. The day will begin with a clear sky, which will become partly cloudy towards the evening or night. No rain is expected, and the weather will remain warm.

Mumbai is expected to experience warm and generally clear weather over the next few days, with some changes anticipated later in the week. The IMD predicts mostly clear skies, with increasing cloud cover towards the evenings and a chance of rain or thunderstorms towards the end of the week.

For October 9, similar conditions are forecasted, with temperatures between 26 and 34 degrees Celsius. The sky will remain mainly clear throughout the day, becoming partly cloudy as the evening approaches.

The forecast for October 10 mirrors the previous days, with a temperature range of 26 to 34 degrees Celsius. The skies will stay mostly clear, but clouds may appear towards the evening or night.

On October 11, the weather will begin to change slightly, with partly cloudy skies expected in the afternoon or evening. The temperature will be slightly cooler, ranging from 26 to 33 degrees Celsius.

By October 12, temperatures will range between 27 and 33 degrees Celsius. Partly cloudy skies are predicted, with a possibility of rain or thunderstorms later in the day.

On October 13, the weather will follow a similar pattern, with temperatures between 27 and 32 degrees Celsius. The skies will remain partly cloudy, with a chance of rain or thunderstorms during the day.

Mumbai Lakes Water Levels

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced on Monday morning that the water levels in Mumbai's seven reservoirs, which supply the city with drinking water, have reached 98.88 per cent of their total capacity. These reservoirs together hold 14,31,147 million litres of water, according to the BMC.

Mumbai gets its water from seven main lakes: Upper Vaitarna, Middle Vaitarna, Bhatsa, Tansa, Vihar, Tulsi, and Modak Sagar.

  • Tulsi Lake has 98.84 per cent of its water stock available.
  • Vihar Lake is at 100 per cent of its capacity.
  • Modak Sagar holds 99.99 per cent of its water stock.
  • Middle Vaitarna has 99.30 per cent of its water available.
  • Upper Vaitarna is at 99.58 per cent capacity.
  • Bhatsa Lake is 99.35 per cent full.
