Maharashtra's Leap Towards Sustainable Living With PM's Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme
There is good news for the people of Maharashtra. The Prime Minister's Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme is being run by the Central and Maharashtra governments. Under this scheme, a subsidy is being given to install solar panels on rooftops. Eligible people can get 300 units of free electricity every month.
At the same time, you can earn money by selling surplus electricity to the grid. The objective of this initiative of the Maharashtra government is to help poor and middle-class families reduce their electricity bills. Also, by installing solar panels, families can enjoy free electricity.
Under this scheme, you can install solar panels on your roof and get rid of hefty electricity bills. If you also want to get solar panels installed on your house roof under the PM Surya Free Electricity Scheme, then for this you will have to pay the price according to the kilowatt.
According to the official website, the cost of a 1 kilowatt solar system is Rs 50,000. At the same time, the cost for a 2 kilowatt system is Rs 1 lakh and for a 3 kilowatt system, it is Rs 1.45 lakh. For more than 3 kilowatts, the cost is Rs 45,000 per kilowatt.

Significant subsidy is given under this scheme. The subsidy for a 1 kilowatt system is Rs 30,000. The subsidy for a 2 kilowatt system is Rs 60,000 and for a 3 kilowatt system, it is Rs 78,000. The subsidy amount is based on the benchmark price of May 2024.
Under this scheme, a solar panel plant up to 10 kilowatt capacity can be installed.
| Solar system capacity | Total cost (Rs.) | Subsidy (Rs.) | Payable amount (Rs.) |
|---|---|---|---|
