Maharashtra MLC Election Results 2024: BJP-Led Mahayuti Alliance Sweeps Polls, Wins 9 Of 11 Seats

The voting for the Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections on 11 seats in Maharashtra took place on Friday amidst a major contest between the Mahayuti and Maha Vikas alliances.

As the counting of votes progresses, BJP candidates such as Pankaja Munde, Yogesh Tilekar, Parinay Phuke, and Amit Gorkhe have each secured 26 votes. In contrast, Jayant Patil of NCP has garnered 8 votes, while Shivajrao Garje from NCP has secured 24 votes. To win the election, a candidate needs to secure 22.76 votes.

The Mahayuti alliance has seen significant success with BJP candidates Pankaja Munde, Yogesh Tilekar, Parinay Phuke, Amit Gorkhe, Sadabhau Khot, and Ajit Pawar-NCP's Rajesh Vitekar, Shivajrao Garje, and Eknath Shinde-Shiv Sena's Krupal Tumane, Bhavana Gawali winning the election. All nine candidates from the Mahayuti alliance emerged victorious.

However, reports indicate cross-voting from the Congress side, which contributed to the victory of Mahayuti alliance candidates.

Celebrating their victory, Mahayuti alliance leaders displayed victory signs after their dominant performance in the Maharashtra legislative council polls, securing nine out of eleven seats.

The BJP fielded five candidates, supported by two each from its allies Shiv Sena's Eknath Shinde and NCP's Ajit Pawar. The BJP candidates included Pankaja Munde, Yogesh Tilekar, Parinay Phuke, Amit Gorkhe, and Sadabhau Khot.

Shiv Sena candidates Krupal Tumane and Bhavana Gawali, along with NCP's Rajesh Vitekar and Shivajrao Garje, also contested the elections.

Voting took place from 9 am to 4 pm, and all results are expected to be declared by this evening. The elections involved 12 candidates vying for the 11 seats in the upper house of the state legislature, with the 274 members of the legislative assembly forming the electoral college.
