Maharashtra Government Announces Plans For Law To Prevent Exam Paper Leaks

The Maharashtra government has announced plans to introduce a law aimed at preventing examination paper leaks. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made this announcement during the monsoon session of the state Assembly. This decision comes in response to questions from Opposition leaders regarding measures to curb such incidents.

New Law Planned to Stop Exam Paper Leaks

Fadnavis mentioned that the previous state government had also considered a similar law. He noted that the Central government has already enacted legislation addressing paper leaks. A delegation of students recently met him, and he assured them that the government intends to pass this law during the current session.

Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat, NCP MLA Rohit Pawar, BJP's Ashish Shelar, and Shiv Sena's Bhaskar Jadhav questioned whether the government would take stringent steps to prevent paper leaks. They urged the government to implement effective measures to ensure the integrity of examinations.

Support for Stringent Measures

Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole had previously urged the state government to enact a stringent law following the NEET paper leak and other exam irregularities. He emphasised the need for strict laws to curb such leaks and punish those responsible.

Fadnavis praised officials involved in conducting exams for their diligence. He acknowledged attempts to disrupt exams but stated that these attempts were thwarted. He also dismissed claims of a paper leak as false. The government's commitment to enacting this law reflects its dedication to maintaining the integrity of examinations and ensuring fair opportunities for all students.
