Maharashtra Launches Financial Aid Scheme For Women With Relaxed Rules
The Maharashtra government has launched the Mukhyamantri Maazi Ladki Bahini Yojana, starting from 1 July, to offer financial aid to women. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has modified the scheme's rules to ensure more women across Maharashtra benefit from it. These changes include extending the age limit and relaxing income conditions.

The deadline for applying to the Mukhyamantri Maazi Ladki Bahini Yojana has been extended from 15 July 2024 to 31 August 2024. Women who apply by this date will receive Rs 1500 monthly starting from 1 July 2024. The age range for eligible women has been adjusted from 21-60 years to 21-65 years.
If a woman beneficiary lacks a residence certificate, any of these four documents will be accepted: Ration Card, Voter ID, School Leaving Certificate, or Birth Certificate. Additionally, the requirement of owning five acres of agricultural land has been removed from the scheme.Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated, "The rules related to this scheme have been relaxed, which includes increasing the age limit and relaxing the income conditions." This adjustment aims to make the scheme more accessible to a broader range of women.
Income and Marital Status Adjustments
Families with Yellow and Orange ration cards who cannot provide proof of income up to Rs 2.5 lakh are exempted from submitting an income certificate. Moreover, one eligible unmarried woman from each family can also benefit from this scheme.For foreign-born women married to Maharashtra residents, their husband's birth certificate, school leaving certificate, or residence certificate will be accepted as valid documentation. This change ensures that more women can qualify for the benefits.
Application Process
To apply for the scheme's benefits, individuals can use the portal/mobile app or visit the Setu Suvidha Kendra. Required documents include a Maharashtra state residence certificate or Birth Certificate, an income certificate of the head of the family issued by a competent authority, and a Xerox copy of the first page of the bank account passbook.Eligible women will receive Rs 1500 per month from the government under this scheme. This financial assistance aims to support women's economic stability and empowerment across Maharashtra.The Mukhyamantri Maazi Ladki Bahini Yojana reflects the government's commitment to improving women's welfare by providing necessary financial support and easing access through relaxed rules and extended deadlines.
