Maharashtra Government Extends Free Health Services For Every Citizen
Maharashtra's Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana now offers free health services to all, aiming to improve access and save costs for the poor.
There is good news for the poor and weaker sections of Maharashtra. Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana is being run for them. Under this scheme, they will get better health services. Free treatment is being provided to citizens in all government hospitals in the state.
The purpose of this Shinde government scheme is to benefit the poor and needy patients. This will also save the money spent on their treatment. The Maharashtra Health Minister said that now all types of treatment are being provided free of cost by the government in government hospitals of the state.

There are 2,418 institutions under the Public Health Department. Citizens will get free treatment at Primary Health Centres, Rural Hospitals, Women's Hospitals, District General Hospitals, Sub-District Hospitals, Referral Service Hospitals and Cancer Hospitals. At present, 2.55 crore citizens get treatment in these facilities every year.
The Maharashtra government aims to increase this number by providing free health services. In June last year, the Maharashtra government had announced to increase the scope of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. The coverage limit has been increased from 2 lakhs to 5 lakhs.
Now all the citizens of the state will get the benefit of this scheme. Earlier, the beneficiaries of this scheme were yellow ration card holders, Antyodaya Anna Yojana ration card holders, Annapurna ration card holders and orange ration card holders. It also included white ration card holder farmer families from 14 districts facing agricultural crisis.
With the approval of the cabinet, now all the citizens will get the benefit of this scheme. This will ensure comprehensive access to health services across Maharashtra.
