Maharashtra DyCM Devendra Fadnavis' Security Beefed Up After Agencies Alert On Threat To Life
Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, central intelligence agencies have alerted authorities to a potential threat to the life of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, leading to a strengthening of his 'Z plus' security cover with former Force One personnel.
Intercepted communications from intelligence sources indicated a possible threat to the BJP leader's life, according to senior officials within the state home department.

Although no specific groups were named, authorities are investigating the scope and nature of the threat and have advised Fadnavis to remain vigilant.
Deployment of Ex-Force One Commandos
Previously, state police enhanced Fadnavis's security by assigning 12 ex-Force One commandos as a precautionary measure, given the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Fadnavis already receives 'Z plus' security, managed by the Special Protection Unit of Maharashtra police, officials noted.
The intelligence reports suggested that certain groups are planning an attack on Fadnavis ahead of the state election. Consequently, state police have conducted a comprehensive review of his security arrangements and have strengthened them accordingly, sources stated.
Additional security measures have been implemented at BJP leader's official residence in Mumbai as well as his residence in Nagpur, with the enhanced security also accompanying him during public events, they added.
The Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 is scheduled for 20 November, with votes across all 288 seats to be counted on November 23.
