Maha Election Result: Ajit Pawar's Faction Sweeps All Grampanchayats In Baramati

In the first election since the NCP split, Ajit Pawar's rebel faction swept the gram panchayats at home turf Baramati, thereby giving a jolt to the party's founder Sharad Pawar and his daughter Supriya Sule.

The Sharad Pawar family has held the Baramati seat for more than fifty years.

Maha Election Result: Ajit Pawars Faction Sweeps All Grampanchayats In Baramati

Ajit Pawar, a one-term Lok Sabha MP from Baramati and a seven-time Baramati MLA, and Supriya Sule, a three-term MP from Baramati, have been prominent in representing the region.

This is the first election since the NCP is divided into two parts - one lead by founder Sharad Pawar and other by his nephew Ajit Pawar.

Voting for 2,359 Gram Panchayats took place on Sunday, and the counting commenced on Monday.

Both the ruling Maha Yuti alliance, consisting of the BJP, Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde, and the NCP led by Ajit Pawar, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, comprising the Congress, Shiv Sena under Uddhav Thackeray's leadership, and the NCP group led by Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule, declared victories in the elections.

As per the most recent updates, within the Maha Yuti, candidates supported by the BJP have secured the majority, winning nearly 700 Gram Panchayats. The Eknath Shinde-led group obtained 240 victories, while the Ajit Pawar faction claimed 350 wins.

In contrast, within the MVA, the Congress emerged victorious in 160 Gram Panchayats, the Sharad Pawar-led NCP secured 170, and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena obtained 100 wins.

However, it has to be noted that local bodies in Maharashtra are not fought on election symbol, but these elections carry importance as various panels receive support from political parties and alliances.
