Jalgaon Train Accident: Is There A Connect With Tapti Express Attack That Happened 10 Days Ago

The district of Jalgaon in Maharashtra has recently found itself in the spotlight for a series of tragic train incidents.

On January 22, 2025, a catastrophic accident involving the Pushpak Express shook the nation.

Panic ensued among passengers when rumors of a fire spread rapidly, leading to several passengers jumping off the moving train.

In a tragic turn of events, these passengers were struck by the oncoming Karnataka Express on an adjacent track. The accident claimed 11 lives and left many injured.

Stone Pelting on Tapti Express On Same Route

This is not the first time Jalgaon has witnessed safety concerns on its railway tracks. On January 12, 2025, the Tapti Express faced stone pelting near Jalgaon. The train was carrying devotees heading to the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj for the royal bath. Miscreants threw stones at the train, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Some passengers had suggested the incident might have been part of a larger conspiracy, targeting pilgrims heading to the religious congregation.

The connection between the two incidents, if any, remains unclear, but it raises concerns about the safety of passengers traveling through this route.

Lack of Warning Horn Raises Questions

Eyewitness accounts reveal that the Karnataka Express did not sound its horn while approaching the area. This failure prevented passengers from being alerted to the danger, which could have potentially averted the tragedy.

Railway's Response and Safety Measures

Following the Pushpak Express accident, railway officials clarified that the smoke resulted from the brakes being applied, and there was no fire on the train. The officials emphasized that the panic caused by rumors led to the passengers' tragic decisions.

Condolences from UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Expressing grief over the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his condolences to the families of the deceased. He prayed for the departed souls and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
