Indians celebrate "Chopda Poojan" as stock market takes a leap (pics)

Mumbai, Nov 4: The five days beginning on Friday, November 1 to Tuesday, November 5, sees almost all families in cities across India busy celebrating the auspicious Diwali days.

This time of the year is new year for many. And most of the traders and merchants start their new year with opening and worshiping their trade and account books. This ceremony is called "Chopda Poojan" (book worshiping).

As soon as the night of "Kaali Chaudash" or "Chaturdashi" turns into day, families get together to celebrate Diwali with a Lakshmi Puja and Chopda Pujan.

The trades are then opened for the year.

Even sensex saw a leap on this auspicious day of Diwali. Business men were seen rejoicing as the stock market touched those special numbers!
