IMD’s Maharashtra Weather Outlook: Mumbai To See Light Rain, Heavier Showers Expected In Thane And Pune
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted no heavy rain warnings for the week from July 29 to August 1. Over the weekend, Mumbai and its neighbouring areas like Thane and Navi Mumbai experienced light rainfall.
On Sunday, IMD's Colaba observatory recorded 3.6 mm of rain, while the Santacruz observatory noted 8.7 mm, both classified as 'light rain' (2.5 mm - 15.5 mm).

For Monday, IMD issued a 'green' alert for Mumbai, indicating moderate rainfall activity. This green alert will remain in effect until August 2.
In Thane, a 'yellow' alert was issued for July 29, predicting heavy rainfall at isolated locations. But Today and Tomorrow, Thane is expected to see moderate rainfall in some areas. The city is again under a 'yellow' alert on August 1.
Meanwhile, Pune and Satara will receive heavy rainfall at isolated places in ghat areas and light to moderate in the plains until August 2. The IMD issues a 'yellow' alert in the city.
Raigad and Ratnagiri are under 'yellow' alert as the regions may receive heavy rainfall at isolated places.
Mumbai Weather Today
The day will see temperatures ranging from 26 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius with a generally cloudy sky accompanied by moderate rain. Winds are expected to be light, coming from the southwest at around 10 to 15 kilometres per hour. Humidity levels will be high, making it feel warmer than the actual temperatures. The chance of thunderstorms is low, but the rain may occasionally be heavy, so be prepared for wet conditions throughout the day.

Recent Rainfall Records
Mumbai experienced significant rainfall with a 'red alert' issued for the city and surrounding regions recently. Total rainfall recorded this season at the Colaba and Santacruz observatories has reached 1,882 mm and 2,012 mm respectively, with most of it occurring in July.
Thane recorded the highest rainfall at 163 mm during this period. The Santacruz observatory reported a total of 1,564 mm of rain in July alone, making it the second wettest July on record.
The IMD's forecasts indicate that while no heavy rain warnings are currently in place for Mumbai from July 29 to August 1, residents should stay updated on any changes in weather alerts.
