A late-night drive turned into a dramatic misadventure for a Navi Mumbai woman after her Audi plunged into a ditch-allegedly due to misleading directions from Google Maps. The incident unfolded around 1 am on Friday, when the woman was navigating from Belapur to Ulwe but was inadvertently guided under the Belapur bridge instead of over it.

A Wrong Turn with Serious Consequences

Instead of directing her to the Bay Bridge-the correct route-Google Maps rerouted her toward Dhruvatara Jetty. Trusting the app, she followed the path, unaware it would lead her straight into a ditch near the waterfront. The woman, who was driving alone, found herself stuck and in urgent need of help.

Swift Rescue by Marine Security

Marine security personnel stationed nearby acted promptly. They reached the scene within minutes and, using a boat, pulled her out safely. Thankfully, she was unharmed and didn't require medical attention. Assistant Police Inspector Narayan Palampalle confirmed that both marine and local police units responded swiftly after receiving a call about a car fallen into a ditch under Belapur bridge.

Not the First Time: When GPS Goes Wrong

This is not the first instance where Google Maps has led drivers into danger. Last year, a tragic accident in India made headlines when three people lost their lives after their car plunged from an incomplete bridge, following faulty directions.
