Former Shiv Sena MP Threatens SC Action Over Navneet Rana’s Caste Certificate If Denied Governor Role

Former Shiv Sena MP Anandrao Adsul has issued a stark warning to the BJP, threatening to file a curative petition with the Supreme Court concerning Navneet Rana's caste certificate case if he is not appointed as Governor within the next 15 days.

In May, Adsul alleged that Union Minister Amit Shah had offered him a gubernatorial position in exchange for withdrawing his claim to the Amravati seat, which Adsul had previously held.

The BJP had fielded Navneet Rana for that seat in the recent Lok Sabha elections. In April, the Supreme Court overturned the Bombay High Court's 2021 ruling that had canceled Rana's Scheduled Caste certificate, clearing her path to contest the elections, as reported by Indian Express.

Adsul, who had withdrawn his bid for the Amravati Lok Sabha seat, claimed that the BJP had promised two Union Cabinet positions and two governorships to Shiv Sena but had yet to honor these commitments. He further alleged that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had recommended his appointment as governor to the BJP's top leadership, yet he remains reappointed, as reported by Indian Express.

"Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured me of a governor's position, as did Union Home Minister Amit Shah. None of these promises have been fulfilled," Adsul stated. "I will wait another fifteen days, but if there is no action, I will proceed to the Supreme Court with a curative petition regarding Navneet Rana's caste certificate."

Adsul's frustration stems from unmet assurances made over the past twenty-five months, and his ultimatum underscores his determination to seek redress through legal channels if his demands are not met, as per media report.
