Exciting News, Mumbaikars! Maha Mumbai Metro Launching Smart Bands For Ticket-Free Travel – Check The Routes
Maha Mumbai Metro unveils a new payment system aimed at improving passenger convenience on the D.N. Nagar to Dahisar Metro 2A and Andheri East to Dahisar Metro Line 7 routes. In partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the State Bank of India (SBI), the Metro is introducing smart bands that will eliminate the need for queuing for tickets.
On The Go Travel Band And NCMC Watch

The NPCI is developing two new ticketing systems, namely the On the Go Travel Band and the NCMC Watch. These devices are designed to provide a seamless travel experience by allowing passengers to bypass traditional ticketing methods. Instead of waiting in lines or scanning QR codes, passengers can use these innovative gadgets to enter metro stations with ease.
The smart bands will function like wristbands, enabling users to store money and recharge as required. This cutting-edge technology has already been implemented on the Metro One route since April. Within just two months, 693 passengers have embraced this new system, using smart bands for their daily commutes, which demonstrates its growing acceptance and convenience.
Automatic Fare Collection
With the smart band, passengers no longer need a metro card or ticket. By simply tapping their wristband at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gate, they gain entry to the metro station without requiring physical tickets or QR code scans. This development is anticipated to save significant time for commuters and reduce daily travel hassles.
The introduction of On the Go Travel Band and NCMC Watch marks a significant advancement in urban transportation technology. These devices enable more efficient travel, resulting in a more enjoyable and stress-free experience for passengers. Maha Mumbai Metro's initiative showcases its dedication to modernising public transport and enhancing user experience.
