Dry Days: Mumbai To See Alcohol Ban On Multiple Days In November 2024
Mumbai is set to experience several dry days in November due to the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. The Election Commission has mandated a ban on alcohol sales in Mumbai on specific dates to ensure a smooth electoral process. These measures aim to prevent any disruptions related to alcohol during the voting period.
Dry days are designated times when alcohol sales are prohibited in a region. They are typically observed during significant national, cultural, or religious events. Additionally, dry days occur during election periods, such as on voting and vote counting days, to prevent any disturbances linked to alcohol consumption.

Dry Days in November 2024
Mumbai will observe dry days on November 12, 18, 19, 20, and 23. On November 12 and 19, there will be a complete ban on alcohol sales. On November 18, liquor sales will be prohibited after 6 pm. On both November 20 (voting day) and November 23 (vote counting day), the sale of liquor will be banned until 6 pm.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for all employees within its jurisdiction on November 20. This decision allows individuals working in businesses, offices, and other establishments under BMC's limits to cast their votes without facing any penalties from employers.
BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani emphasized that employers must not penalize employees for taking leave on November 20 to vote. Any employer who violates this directive will face strict action. Employees within the Brihanmumbai limits can exercise their voting rights without fear of salary deductions or other repercussions.
