For the first time, Central Railway (CR) has introduced holding areas at major stations in Mumbai to manage the large crowds expected during Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's Mahaparinirvan Diwas. This initiative comes in the wake of a recent stampede at Bandra Terminus.
To accommodate the influx of people traveling to Mumbai to pay homage to Dr. Ambedkar at Chaityabhoomi, Dadar's Shivaji Park, the CR is operating special trains. On December 5 and 6, 12 additional suburban trains-six on the main line and six on the harbour line-will be running. Separate entry and exit points have been designated at Dadar station for smooth crowd management.
Traffic Advisory
The Mumbai Traffic Police have issued an advisory in anticipation of the large number of devotees visiting Chaityabhoomi. Traffic arrangements will be enforced from 6:00 AM on December 5 until midnight on December 7 to ensure minimal inconvenience to commuters.
