Did Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Target Baba Siddique? Police Respond To Viral Claims
Mumbai Police are investigating a viral social media post claiming that an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang is responsible for the recent murder of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique.
According to the post, the gang allegedly targeted Siddique due to his close connection with Bollywood star Salman Khan.

Viral Facebook Post Raises Suspicion
The viral post on Facebook, shared by a user identifying as a Lawrence Bishnoi gang member, states that the gang attacked Siddique as retribution for his association with Khan. A Mumbai police officer confirmed that the post's authenticity is under verification but did not yet confirm any links between the gang and the crime.
"We have seen the viral social media post, and we are verifying its authenticity," a police official told PTI.
The Incident and Aftermath
On Saturday night, three individuals reportedly attacked Siddique outside his son's office in Bandra. Following the shooting, Siddique was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he was declared dead. Just hours after the incident, the Facebook post surfaced, further fueling speculation.
The post also referenced Anuj Thapan, a suspect previously involved in an attack near Khan's residence, who died by suicide in police custody. The post contained threats suggesting retaliation against anyone aiding Salman Khan, indicating an escalation of tension between the gang and those associated with the Bollywood actor.
Police Probe Different Motives
Mumbai police have launched a comprehensive investigation into Siddique's murder, exploring multiple angles such as potential business rivalries, slum rehabilitation conflicts, or a targeted contract killing. Authorities believe the murder could have been premeditated, though they are yet to establish any confirmed motives.
Earlier today, Siddique's body was transferred from Lilavati Hospital to Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle for a postmortem examination. His remains were later taken to his residence at Maqba Heights in Bandra for family and the public to pay their respects before his scheduled funeral.
