On Tuesday morning, Eknath Shinde resigned as Chief Minister, potentially clearing the path for Devendra Fadnavis to assume the role. Shinde submitted his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai and was asked to continue as caretaker CM until a new leader is appointed.

The BJP-led Mahayuti coalition secured a decisive win, capturing 235 out of 288 seats in the assembly.
