Devendra Fadnavis' 2019 Speech Goes Viral Amid Mahayuti’s Election Victory: ‘I Will Come Back Again’
As Maharashtra witnesses an unprecedented victory for the Mahayuti alliance in the assembly poll, a 2019 speech by BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis has resurfaced and is trending. It has caught the attention of social media users. The clip, featuring Fadnavis' resolute promise of a comeback, is being hailed as a testament to his political acumen and enduring influence in the state.
In December 2019, Fadnavis resigned as Chief Minister after just four days in power, following the collapse of a short-lived alliance with Ajit Pawar's NCP. Forced into the Opposition after Uddhav Thackeray took the CM's chair with the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress coalition, Fadnavis addressed the Maharashtra Assembly with a bold declaration:

"Mera paani utarte dekh, kinare par ghar mat bana lena; main samandar hoon, laut kar wapis aaunga"
("Thinking the tide has ebbed, don't you dare build your house on the coast; for I am the sea, and I will come back.")
Five years later, Fadnavis has made good on his promise. The Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Ajit Pawar's NCP faction, and Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, is set to secure over 230 seats. The BJP alone is poised to win nearly 130 seats, marking a significant jump from its 2019 tally of 105.
A Leader Who Shaped Maharashtra's Growth
Fadnavis' journey is not just about political promises but also about his tangible contributions to Maharashtra's development. During his tenure as Chief Minister (2014-2019), he initiated key infrastructure projects, such as the Mumbai Metro expansion, the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Mahamarg, and transformative urban renewal programmes. His emphasis on boosting Maharashtra's status as an investment hub attracted global attention, laying the groundwork for the state's economic resurgence.
Beyond infrastructure, Fadnavis' policies focused on rural empowerment, with initiatives like the Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan aimed at drought mitigation, benefiting farmers across the state. His ability to blend developmental priorities with political strategy has cemented his reputation as a leader who not only promises but delivers.
Bottomline: What A Comeback!
The 2024 assembly elections not only mark a political victory for the BJP but also a personal vindication for Fadnavis. His leadership, coupled with the Mahayuti's coordinated strategy, has reshaped the political landscape of Maharashtra. With his powerful words now etched in the state's political memory, Devendra Fadnavis stands tall as a leader whose vision and resolve have redefined Maharashtra's destiny.
