Central And Western Railways Schedule Significant Disruption In Mumbai’s Local Train Services On August 24

The Central and Western Railways have announced a significant disruption in Mumbai's local train services on 24 August. This is to accommodate essential engineering and maintenance work. The Central Railway will conduct a daytime block, while the Western Railway has planned a Jumbo Night Block.

Central Railway Block Timings and Routes

On the Down Slow Line between CSMT and Mulund, trains from 10:14 to 15:32 will be rerouted to the down fast line between Matunga and Mulund. These trains will stop at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, and Mulund before returning to the slow line at Mulund. Passengers should anticipate a delay of about 15 minutes.

For the Up Slow Line from Thane to CSMT, services running between 11:07 and 15:51 will switch to the up fast line between Mulund and Matunga. Stops will include Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla, and Sion. At Matunga, trains will revert to the slow line with an expected delay of 15 minutes.

Trans-Harbour Line Service Suspension

The Trans-Harbour Line services between Vashi/Nerul and Thane will be suspended during this block period. In the down direction (Thane–Vashi/Nerul/Panvel), services are cancelled from 10:35 to 16:07. For the up direction (Panvel/Nerul/Vashi–Thane), cancellations are from 10:25 to 16:09.

Western Railway Jumbo Night Block

The Western Railway's Jumbo Night Block at Vasai Road Yard is scheduled from 00:30 to 04:30 on the night of August 23-24. This maintenance work involves track, signalling, and overhead equipment on goods lines at Vasai Road Yard. Notably, there will be no daytime block on Sunday, August 24.

This planned maintenance aims to ensure smoother operations in the future but may cause temporary inconvenience for passengers. Travellers are advised to plan accordingly and check for updates regarding train schedules during this period.
