Bollywood was left reeling on September 11 with the sudden passing of Anil Mehta, the father of actresses Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora. The 66-year-old businessman took his own life by jumping from his sixth-floor balcony in Mumbai, sending shockwaves throughout the entertainment industry.

According to Mumbai Police, the incident took place around 9 a.m. on Wednesday at "Ayesha Manor" in the upscale Almeida Park area of Bandra. Mr. Mehta, 65, reportedly jumped from the building's balcony, sustaining severe fractures to his right leg and other parts of his body. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Mehta was pronounced dead on arrival.

Mumbai Police were quickly on the scene to investigate the incident, and initial findings suggest that the death appears to be a suicide. However, a final determination will be made following the completion of the police inquiry and post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, report suggests the post-mortem report has revealed that Mr Mehta died from multiple fractures sustained during a fatal fall from his residence's sixth-floor balcony.

Malaika, who was in Pune at the time of the incident, immediately returned to her mother's home in Bandra upon hearing the news. Several prominent figures from the film industry, including Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, Salim Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, and Arjun Kapoor, visited the Arora family to offer their condolences.

Search for Diary May Provide Clues

In a recent development, reports from Navbharat Times suggest that Anil Mehta may have kept a diary documenting his daily activities. The police are now searching for this diary, hoping it may provide insights into his state of mind or any indications of why he took such a drastic step.

Witnesses and CCTV footage have already been reviewed as part of the investigation. The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities have noted that no suicide note was found at the scene.

Just moments before Anil Kuldip Mehta took his own life, he made a final phone call to his daughters, actresses Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora. "I'm sick and tired," he confided, as per reports. Hours later, Malaika shared a heartfelt statement on Instagram, expressing the family's deep sorrow over their father's tragic passing.

Condolences Pour In

Malaika Arora and her family were seen leaving her mother's residence late last night, surrounded by close friends and relatives. In a heartfelt message shared on social media after her father's passing, Malaika wrote: "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time."

The last rites for Anil Mehta were performed on Thursday at the Santa Cruz Hindu crematorium. Several notable figures attended the ceremony, including Kareena Kapoor Khan and her husband Saif Ali Khan, director Farah Khan, Malaika's ex-husband Arbaaz Khan, and her former boyfriend Arjun Kapoor.
