Campa Cola demolition: Residents see hope as BMC extends demolition date

The BMC has agreed to postponed the demolition process till June 20.
The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) had earlier said that it would start taking action against the residents of the illegal flats from June 17.
The residents have refused to meet the deadline set by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC and threatened to pitch tents within the compound premises and stay there.
The Supreme Court had rejected the plea of the residents on Tuesday who were opposed against the demolition of the flats. They had filed a plea demanding a stay on the demolition of their flats till the court decides on their curative petition.
Over 90 illegal flats in the complex, built illegally in the early 1980s, are set to be demolished.
