Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty's cousin faces arrest in assault case

actor Sunil Shetty's cousin brother Ajit has landed in a legal soup. Ajit, whose driver has already been arrested, too might be taken into police custody in connection with an assault case in Mumbai.

Ajit along with his driver Ramnarayan Mishra were accused of assaulting a driver of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) -- Rajkumar Shinde near the Mumbai Central bus station.

The BEST driver hit Ajit Shetty's Mercedes Benz car while taking his vehicle to the bus station. Soon after Mishra, Ajit Shetty allegedly assaulted the driver.

The incident took place near Ambika Mills on Dr E Moses Road at 12:45 pm. Ajit Shetty was in the backseat of the car. The bus was stopped soon after the accident, following which Shetty and Mishra came out of the car and allegedly pulled Rajkumar Shinde out of the bus and thrashed him.

36-year-old Shinde fell unconscious and was rushed to a near by hospital. Doctors, however, informed that he is out of danger and will be discharged from the hospital soon.

While the police managed to arrest Mishra, Shetty managed to flee. A senior inspector of NM Joshi Marg police station was quoted as saying, "The driver, Sham Narayan Mishra (57), as well as the other person in the car, Ajit Shetty, a cousin of Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, were booked under section 353 (criminal force or assault to deter a public servant from discharging his duty) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code."

Ajit Shetty's driver has been sent to police custody till Monday, Jan 6.
