Hit & Run: Bigg Boss 7 host Salman Khan relieved, retrial ordered

Salman Khan, host of TV reality show Bigg Boss 7, is facing serious charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The actor had moved the court seeking retrial seeking termination of the evidences which were produced before a Magistrate court.
Dec 23 is the deadline for prosecution and defence to submit their lists of witnesses after which a date for fresh trial would be fixed. The judge of the session court also said that all the witnesses would be examined and cross-examined again during the trial which would be put on fast-track mode.
All witnesses and evidences related to hit and run case would be re-examined
Srikant Shivade, Salman's lawyer, earlier had argued that the defence said did not get opportunity in the magistrate's court to cross-examine witnesses vis-a-vis the additional charge of culpable homicide.
Salman earlier had launched a special website stating, "Certain court cases are filed against me. There is widespread media reporting of these cases. The reports are sometimes inaccurate and misleading, and cause damage to my reputation, both personal and professional."
"I have been advised to put up this website to provide easy accessible information about the ongoing status of these cases," added the statement. Continuing the statement, the actor said, "I encourage all those interested in knowing about the cases, particularly the media, to verify facts available on this site."
Questioning Salman's intention in launching the website, an activist Hemant Patil filed a complaint against him. A magistrate at Bandra court had issued summons to the actor on July 10. Salman was accused of violating law for posting court proceedings on his website -- www.Salmankhanfiles.com.
The complaint alleged that Salman was embroiled in legal cases including the 2002 hit-and-run case involving him and said that by posting court matters on the website, the actor had committed contempt of court as the matters were subjudice.
Salman Khan was arrested on 28th September 2002 for rash and negligent driving. His car had run over four person near a bakery, killing one and injuring three others.
Salman was under the influence of alcohol while driving his car when he rammed into the bakery, a chemical analyst who tested his blood after the accident told the trial court. The victims also claim that they had seen the actor in the driving seat after the accident.
