BEST Bus Fare Hike Incoming: Check New Rates For AC And Non-AC Buses

Daily travel on BEST buses might soon cost more, according to a Times Now report. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has approved a proposal to increase bus fares for both ordinary and air-conditioned (AC) buses. The final decision is now in the hands of the Maharashtra state government.

This marks the first fare hike since 2018, as rising operational costs and heavy financial losses have made it difficult for the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking to continue with the current pricing. The fare hike proposal was approved by BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, following a meeting held on Friday. Reports suggest that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present at the discussion.

The new fare structure is expected to take effect in the coming weeks if approved by the state government.
