Badlapur Case: 16-Year-Old Girl Accuses Her Father Of Repeatedly Raping And Beating Her

A 16-year-old girl in Badlapur, Maharashtra, has accused her father of repeatedly raping and beating her, according to Midday. The police have launched a search operation to apprehend the 54-year-old suspect, who is currently on the run.

The latest incident occurred on August 22, prompting the girl to flee her home out of fear. She later returned and filed a complaint with the police on Monday. "The accused used to beat up his minor daughter frequently and raped her several times," an official from Badlapur East police station stated in the Midday.

Police Investigation

Based on the girl's complaint, authorities have registered a case against the man under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The charges include rape, assault with intent to outrage modesty, sexual harassment, and voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means.

In another incident in Badlapur, two kindergarten girls were sexually assaulted by a male attendant at a private school. This led to significant public outrage and protests. Consequently, the Maharashtra government established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case thoroughly.

Judicial Proceedings

The accused in this separate case was presented in Kalyan court on August 21. Additional Sessions Judge VA Patravale ordered police custody until August 26. During this period, the SIT interrogated him and his family members to gather evidence.

On Monday, after his police custody ended, he was produced in court again and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. "During this period, the SIT interrogated the accused and his family members to gather evidence," said a police officer in the Midday.
