Back-to-Back Flight Disruptions: Air India Faces Technical Snag And Bird Strike On The Same Day
On Wednesday, a London-bound Air India flight had to return to Mumbai shortly after take-off because of a technical problem. The airline's spokesperson confirmed in Mumbai Times that the flight landed safely at Mumbai airport, and precautionary checks are currently being carried out. Air India has made alternative arrangements for the passengers affected by this disruption.
The spokesperson stated, "Air India flight AI129, operating from Mumbai to London, returned to Mumbai due to a technical issue. The aircraft landed safely in Mumbai for precautionary checks. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to our guests by this unexpected disruption. Alternative arrangements have already been made to ensure passengers reach their destination."

Passengers have also been offered full refunds if they choose to cancel their journey, and complimentary rescheduling to a later date if they prefer. The spokesperson added, "At Air India, the safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is our top priority."
In addition to this, An Air India flight, carrying 116 passengers, had to abort its take-off from Dabolim Airport in Goa on Wednesday morning following a bird strike. The incident occurred at 6:45 am, causing smoke to rise from the aircraft's engine, which led to the decision to cancel the take-off, according to airport director M. C. Jayarajan. The air traffic controller promptly reported the incident to senior authorities, Jayarajan added.
The flight was bound for Mumbai from Goa International Airport at Dabolim, located near Vasco in South Goa. "The take-off was aborted immediately, and the aircraft is now parked in the bay for further investigation," Jayarajan stated.
Dabolim Airport is part of the INS Hansa base of the Indian Navy. Jayarajan mentioned that the Airports Authority of India will address the issue of bird presence on the runway with the Navy, emphasising, "This is a serious matter."
