Axis My India Maharashtra Exit Poll 2024: Maha Yuti Sweeps OBC Vote, MVA Strong Among SCs

The Maharashtra Exit Poll 2024 conducted by Axis My India reveals a clear edge for the Maha Yuti alliance, comprising BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), and other partners.

The alliance is projected to capture 48% of the total vote share, showcasing its dominance across several key voter demographics.

Caste-Wise Breakdown of Vote Share

The detailed analysis highlights Maha Yuti's sweeping popularity among major caste groups:

  • OBCs: A staggering 64% of Other Backward Classes favor Maha Yuti.
  • Marathas: 48% of the Maratha community supports the alliance, ensuring its stronghold in this crucial demographic.
  • Other General Categories: Maha Yuti leads with 68%, further consolidating its influence.
  • Kunbis: The alliance enjoys 53% of the vote share in this agrarian community.

However, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)-comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and others-has managed to retain strong backing among specific voter groups:

  1. Muslims: A resounding 79% of the Muslim electorate supports MVA, reinforcing its position in this segment.
  2. Scheduled Castes (SC): The MVA leads with 40% vote share.

The VBA (Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi) and Other alliances collectively account for 15% of the vote share, including smaller parties and independents.

Maha Yuti's Strategic Advantage

Maha Yuti's dominance across key caste groups, particularly OBCs and Marathas, has been pivotal in its projected success. The alliance's vote share also reflects effective coalition-building among diverse socio-political groups, ensuring widespread voter engagement.

While MVA leads among Muslims and Scheduled Castes, its overall vote share stands at 37%. This highlights its struggle to counter the overwhelming popularity of the Maha Yuti across other significant demographics.

The VBA and Others

The VBA, led by Prakash Ambedkar, is expected to secure 3% of the vote share, with minimal impact in the broader political landscape. Meanwhile, "Others" account for 12%, which includes various smaller parties and independent candidates.

What Lies Ahead

As the Maharashtra assembly election results nears on November 23, the exit polls indicate a strong mandate for the Maha Yuti, potentially reshaping Maharashtra's political narrative. The MVA's pockets of influence, especially among Muslims and SCs, underline the ongoing electoral contest.

The poll projections mark a defining moment for both alliances, as they gear up to translate these numbers into decisive victories.
