Assembly Polls: What’s Open, What's Closed In Mumbai & Maharashtra Today
The polling for the 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra began at 7 am across the state. It will continue until 6:00 pm in Maharashtra.
Prominent personalities to vote includes cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, and actor Akshay Kumar among others.

What's Open and Closed Today
Public Transport
Public transport in Maharashtra, including the Mumbai Metro and BEST buses, is running as usual to facilitate voter mobility. To further assist commuters, Central Railways has introduced special suburban train services for election officials and the public. These services will operate overnight on November 19-20 and November 20-21 along key routes, such as the Main Line (CSMT-Kalyan) and Harbour Line (CSMT-Panvel).
Hospitals and Emergency Services
Hospitals, pharmacies, and ambulance services remain operational throughout the day, ensuring uninterrupted access to emergency care.
Educational Institutions
All schools, colleges, and universities across Maharashtra are closed today to allow staff and eligible students to participate in the voting process.
Government and Private Offices
Government offices are shut for the day. Many private companies in Mumbai have declared a paid holiday to encourage employees to cast their votes.
Banks and Financial Institutions
Public and private sector banks across Maharashtra are closed. However, online banking services and ATMs continue to function normally. Stock markets, including the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE), are also closed for the day and will resume trading tomorrow.
Liquor Shops
As per election protocol, liquor shops are closed, and alcohol sales are prohibited for the day to maintain decorum during the voting process.
