was battling for life at a hospital here after she was forced to drink

by her alleged stalker in Gorai beach here on Saturday night. The accused also allegedly pushed her into the sea.

The 18-year-old college student was allegedly being stalked by a 20-year-old man named Jitendra over the past few months. Both the victim and the accused belong to Dahisar area of Mumbai.

The accused was arrested and a case of attempt to murder was registered against him.

The victim's family had registered a police complaint earlier after he had started stalking the girl. The police had also reportedly warned him not to pursue the girl.

Mumbai, which is considered to be one of the safest cities in the country, has been in the headlines recently for crime against women. In August, a 22-year-old photojournalist on duty was gangraped by five men in the premises of an abandoned factory in southern Mumbai, leaving the city in a state of shock.
