Airline discounts: Tickets sale increases by 500 per cent

The discount, which was initially introduced by SpiceJet, IndiGo and GoAir few days back was brought in due to the lean flying period (January to March are considered slow for leisure travelling). Soon full-service carriers like Jet Airways and Air India joined the race.
Mumbaikars, according to reports are making the most of it by choosing Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Jaipur and Lucknow as their favourite destinations.
Many fliers are however booking the tickets through online portals. The portals feel that the rise in the sale of tickets is mostly due to the impulsive behaviour of the fliers who plan a holiday only after the discounts.
Online travel portals say that such discounts are beneficial for the industry.
But the airlines offer huge discounts only on non-busy routes and advance bookings.
