24-Year-Old BSc Student Dies Of Heart Attack During Exam In Beed

A tragic incident occurred on the morning of Friday, December 13, when Siddhant Masal, a 24-year-old third-year BSc student, collapsed during an exam at Swatantryaveer Sawarkar Arts, Science, and Commerce College in Beed, according to The Times Of India report. Siddhant, who had no prior medical history, complained of uneasiness during the exam and was quickly rushed to the District Civil Hospital. Sadly, he was declared dead upon arrival.

Siddhant, who had been working part-time while preparing for UPSC exams, came from a modest background. His father works as a car driver, and his mother is a salesperson at a saree shop. The young man had been striving to support his family and improve their situation. His younger brother, Yash, who had dropped him off at college that morning, said there were no signs of distress during the ride.

At the time of the incident, Siddhant was sitting on the second floor of the college when he reported feeling unwell around 9:45 AM. The invigilator immediately alerted the NCC experts on site, who were trained in first aid. They rushed him to the hospital, but despite their efforts, he was declared dead.

A postmortem later confirmed the cause of death was a heart attack, likely caused by blood clots in the heart. Authorities have registered a case of accidental death. The sudden loss has left his family devastated and in shock.

This incident raises concerns over the increasing number of heart-related issues, particularly among the young. The same report revealed that 27 heart attack-related deaths were recorded daily in Mumbai in 2023. Cardiovascular diseases have now become the leading cause of death in India, accounting for 28 per cent of all fatalities, according to a Kailash Healthcare report.
