Rajasthan Unveils Inaugural Handicrafts Policy and MSME Policy on MSME Day
On MSME Day, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will unveil the state's inaugural handicrafts policy and the Rajasthan MSME Policy-2022. The event will also see the presentation of Udyog Ratna and Export Promotion Awards to distinguished entrepreneurs and exporters, as stated in an official release.
During a ceremony in Jaipur, Chief Minister Gehlot will introduce these policies and launch a coffee table book titled 'Rajasthani Artifacts,' showcasing the state's handicrafts. Industries Minister Shakuntala Rawat highlighted that the Rajasthan Handicraft Policy-2022 aims to enhance marketing strategies for handicrafts, revive traditional and extinct arts, and generate new job opportunities.
The introduction of the state's first handicraft policy is expected to benefit artisans involved in various crafts such as rugs, ceramics, clay art, painting, leatherwork, and jewellery. This initiative is projected to create over 50,000 new jobs in the handicrafts sector over the next five years.

In parallel, the state will launch the 'Rajasthan Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Policy-2022' to harness the potential of small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This policy aims to bolster the growth of MSMEs across Rajasthan.
To encourage export activities within the state, 29 exporters will receive the Export Promotion Award. Additionally, 13 entrepreneurs will be honoured with the Udyog Ratna Award for their outstanding achievements in various fields.
The policies and awards are part of a broader strategy to stimulate economic growth and support local industries. By focusing on both handicrafts and MSMEs, Rajasthan aims to strengthen its economic foundation while preserving its rich cultural heritage.
