Yogi Government Big Gift For Youth, Sports Colleges To Be Built In These UP Districts

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major initiative for young people in the state. In what is being described as a significant gift for the youth, the administration will implement the concept of "One District, One Commissionary, One Divisional Headquarters, One Sports College." Sports colleges will be constructed in all districts that serve as divisional headquarters.

These colleges will be developed as Centres of Excellence, keeping in view the Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad in 2030 and India's proposed bid for the Olympic Games in 2036.

Focus On Grassroots Sports And Skill Development

The government is placing strong emphasis on building open gyms, mini stadiums, and full-sized stadiums at the gram panchayat level. These projects will move forward with support from the central government under the Khelo India programme. At the same time, special attention is being given to enhancing the skills of young people through multiple schemes.

• Rs 1000 crore has been allocated for expenditure on operations and training under the Skill Development Mission.
• Rs 225 crore has been provided for the Chief Minister Youth Self-Employment Scheme.
• Rs 836 crore has been allocated for the Artisan Training Scheme.
• Rs 500 crore has been set aside under Project Praveen to provide skill training to secondary school students.
• Rs 20 crore has been granted to support apprenticeships for youth under the Chief Minister Apprenticeship Training Scheme.
• Sports competitions will be organised with Rs 3 lakh for every Vidhan Sabha and Rs 10 lakh for each Lok Sabha constituency, with a total allocation of Rs 20 crore.
• Rs 80 crore has been allocated for the construction of a new building at Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut.
• Another Rs 60 crore has been earmarked for academic and sports activities at the same university, taking the total allocation to Rs 170 crore.

Facilities At Green Park Stadium In Kanpur To Be Expanded

Green Park International Cricket Stadium in Kanpur will undergo redevelopment. The state government will spend Rs 45 crore to enhance sports facilities at the venue. The redevelopment aims to equip the stadium with modern infrastructure and help nurture sporting talent.

Mental Health And Wellness Policy For Students

A policy focused on students' mental health and wellbeing will be introduced in universities and degree colleges. The budget allocates Rs 14.50 crore for this effort.

With increasing academic pressure and competition, many students experience mental stress, and rising incidents of suicide have prompted the need for structured support. The policy is intended to ensure equal opportunities for all students. Special counselling facilities will be available in every higher education institution, along with career counselling services. Skilled psychologists will guide students on stress management so they can pursue their education without undue pressure.

The Higher Education Department considers this a concrete step towards helping students remain stress-free and supporting their overall development.
