Yogi Adityanath Transfers ₹460 Crore To Over 2.5 Lakh Farmers, Families In Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday announced financial assistance worth ₹460 crore for more than 2.5 lakh farmers and their family members across the state.

The amount was transferred directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts during a special programme, reinforcing the government's focus on economic security and social protection for the farming community.

₹285 Crore Compensation Under Crop Insurance Scheme

A significant portion of the package was disbursed under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, with ₹285 crore released to 2.51 lakh farmers as compensation for crop losses. The losses were caused by natural calamities such as unseasonal rainfall, hailstorms and drought.

Highlighting the role of technology, the Chief Minister said farmers no longer need to visit government offices to claim compensation, as funds are now transferred directly to their bank accounts through digital systems. The move aims to ensure transparency and timely relief.

₹175 Crore Assistance For Bereaved Families

In addition to crop compensation, ₹175 crore was distributed under the Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana. The scheme covered 3,500 families who lost a farmer or the earning head of the household in accidents.

Each beneficiary family is receiving assistance of around ₹5 lakh. The Chief Minister said the farmer is the backbone of society and assured that the government stands firmly with families during times of personal tragedy.

Focus On Doubling Farmers' Income

During his address, Yogi Adityanath said farming conditions in Uttar Pradesh have improved considerably since 2017, with services from seed distribution to market access increasingly digitised. He directed officials to ensure that benefits such as soil testing facilities and life insurance for disaster volunteers reach every eligible farmer without delay.

He said, "The double engine government aims to double farmers' income and make them self-reliant by connecting them with technology."

Several farmers joined the event virtually and expressed gratitude for receiving timely assistance, noting that prompt financial support helps them continue agricultural activities without additional financial burden.
