Miscreants injure 8 policemen in stone pelting in Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar, Mar 27:

associated with liquor mafia injured at least eight policemen after allegedly pelting stones and freed three persons from

custody who were arrested in connection with selling illegal liquor at Khatoli town.

A team of Excise and Police department had arrested three liquor mafia during raids yesterday, later the miscreants associated with them started pelting stones and freed the three accused from the police custody, police said today.

Sub Inspector Sanjay Verma, woman constable Archana, Constable Dinesh, Anup, Vishnu, Vipin, Ajay Sharma and Raman Singh were among who were injured and shifted to a near by hospital, they said.

Police have registered a case against 16 people who are yet absconding. District authorities have started a drive against liquor supply in the wake of general elections, they said.
