Lucknow teen who fell from 3rd floor succumbs to injuries

|

Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow, Sept 6:17-year old student, Sumbul Ishaq, who fell from the third floor of her college succumbed to her injuries today. She died without giving any statement to the police regarding the reason for her fall. The police now has to depend on circumstantial evidence, said one of the senior officers.

Her parents, however, cry foul saying that she complained of ragging in the bus she used to take to college and also in her institute.

Her father claims further, saying that he had lodged complaints with the hospital authorities, but to no use. He now believes that his daughter was either pushed from behind or fell accidentally when she was cornered by senior students. The possibility of a suicide is also not being ruled out as a teacher had humiliated her in front of the entire classroom for not being fluent in English.

She suffered multiple fractures and had hurt her jaw so badly that she was not able to talk. Police found her cellphone at the site and is likely to rely on SMS and phone calls for relevant leads in the story.

College authorities, however, say that no such complaints of ragging had been lodged by the girl's parents.

In its defence, Dr L Shekhar, a senior management official from the college said,"No complaint of any ragging or harassment of girl was ever brought to the notice of the management by the girl's guardians. When the incident took place, the girl was rushed to the hospital by four teachers and one student. The college is cooperating with the police in its investigations".
