DA Hike In UP: 4% DA Hike Likely For Govt Employees, Arrears Expected In October
In what promises to be a Diwali bonanza for government employees in Uttar Pradesh, the state government proposed a 4% DA hike for its employees, a move that is set to enhance their financial well-being significantly. This development, once approved by the cabinet, is expected to take effect from July 1, ushering in financial relief for the state's workforce. This move comes in the wake of a recent announcement by the Central Government.
Under this proposed scheme, a significant number of beneficiaries are set to benefit. Around 12 lakh teachers and employees, alongside 7 lakh pensioners, will witness a substantial boost in their DA, with a remarkable 4% increase being planned. This decision to enhance the DA is poised to bring cheer to a large section of the state's workforce.

The effective date of this increase has been scheduled to commence from July 1, ensuring that employees and pensioners will receive the adjusted allowance with retrospective effect. This means that the arrears for the previous period will also be disbursed, adding an extra layer of relief for the beneficiaries.
It is expected that the Yogi Adityanath government will swiftly grant its approval to this benevolent initiative. The move is expected to foster a sense of goodwill and celebration among the state employees and pensioners, making their Diwali a truly special one.
Arrears Expected in October
Once the proposed increase is granted approval by the cabinet, the heightened Dearness Allowance (DA) is set to become effective starting from July 1. In a generous move, employees and pensioners will also receive arrears spanning from July 1 to September. Seculation is rife that the Yogi government will soon provide its nod of approval for this development.
It's important to note that the government typically announces a DA hike twice a year. The first adjustment typically takes effect from January 1 each year, and the second from July 1. According to reports, the augmented DA for employees will be disbursed along with the arrears within the October salary.
Notably, the Central Government had previously announced a four percent increase in the dearness allowance for central employees on October 18. Consequently, the dearness allowance for central employees rose from 42 percent to 46 percent, reflecting the government's commitment to enhancing employee benefits.
