Veeravati believed the moon had risen and broke her fast. Soon after, she learned her husband had fallen ill. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati appeared before her and revealed that her husband had passed away due to her mistake. Veeravati pleaded for forgiveness.

Touched by her devotion, Goddess Parvati granted a boon that Veeravati's husband would return to life if she strictly followed the fast's rules. Veeravati complied, and her husband was revived as promised.
