Kansa Vadh is a significant Hindu festival celebrated on the Dashmi tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik. It falls on 1st November 2025, a Saturday. This day commemorates the battle between Lord Krishna and his uncle, Kansa, the ruler of Mathura. After defeating Kansa, Lord Krishna freed his parents, Devaki and Basudeva, and reinstated King Ugrasen.

Kansa Vadh symbolises the triumph of good over evil. It marks the day when King Ugrasen was restored as the rightful king of Mathura. The festival is a reminder of the victory of righteousness and justice over tyranny and oppression.

Kansa was a powerful ruler known for his evil deeds. He learned that he would be killed by the eighth child of his sister, Devaki. To prevent this, he imprisoned Devaki and her husband, Basudeva, killing their newborns. However, Lord Vishnu intervened during Krishna's birth. Basudeva swapped Krishna with another child to save him.

When Kansa discovered that Devaki's eighth child was safe in Vrindavan, he made several attempts to kill Krishna. Ultimately, Lord Krishna confronted Kansa and defeated him, restoring peace and justice in Mathura.
