Dev Diwali 2024: Experience Spiritual Celebration in Varanasi with Lights and Rituals

Dev Diwali, also known as Kartik Purnima, is a significant festival celebrated in India. It falls on 15th November 2024, a Friday. This festival is observed mainly in the northern parts of India, especially in Varanasi. Dev Diwali marks the victory of Lord Shiva over the demon Tripurasur. It is celebrated 15 days after Diwali, making it a unique event in the Hindu calendar.

The main ritual of Dev Diwali is the Kartik Snan. Devotees take a holy bath in the river Ganges. In the evening, oil lamps are lit and floated on the river. This creates a beautiful sight as thousands of lamps illuminate the water. A grand Ganga Aarti is performed at Dashameshwar Ghat. Hymns are chanted, drums are beaten, and conches are blown during this ceremony.
