Asian Barbecue Ribs Recipe: Savoury Pork Ribs with Soy and Hoisin
Asian Barbecue Ribs are a delightful dish that combines the rich flavours of Asian cuisine with the smoky taste of barbecue. This recipe uses pork spareribs, seasoned with a barbecue rub and cooked slowly in a smoker. The ribs are then glazed with a sweet and savoury soy mixture, creating a deliciously sticky finish. - 2 slabs St. Louis style/cut pork spareribs
- 6 tbsp Barbecue Rub
- Dry hickory chunks
- ¼ cup Soy Sauce
- ¼ cup Hoisin Sauce
- ½ cup Sake
- 3 tbsp Honey
- 1 tbsp Mirin

- Smoker
- Saucepan
- Broiler
Procedure
- Peel off the thin membrane on each rib. Season ribs with the barbecue rub and refrigerate for at least one hour.
- Place hickory chunks in the firebox of a smoker preheated to 250°F (120°C).
- Combine the remaining ingredients in a large saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, for five minutes or until slightly thickened. Set aside.
- Place ribs in the smoker and cook for five to six hours, brushing with the soy mixture often.
- Brush meat sides generously with the soy mixture and place under a preheated broiler until deeply browned. Watch carefully to prevent burning!
- Slice into one-rib portions and serve.
