Worked With Naseeruddin Shah, Now Found Lost: Sumi Har Chowdhury's Shocking Condition

Bengali actress Sumi Har Chowdhury, known for her roles in films such as Dwitiya Purush and Khashi Katha: A Goat Saga, was recently found wandering aimlessly in the Amila Bazar area of East Burdwan district, West Bengal. Missing for the past three months, the actress was seen wearing a black shirt and shorts, scribbling on paper, and speaking incoherently in both Bengali and English.

Initially, passersby did not recognize her, mistaking her for a local woman. However, when she repeatedly claimed, "I am an actress," some locals grew curious. Upon searching her name online, they confirmed her identity by matching her current appearance with her film roles and older pictures.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

Police Intervention and Shelter Home Placement

Once the police were informed, they attempted to communicate with her. However, her responses were inconsistent. At first, she said she was from Kolkata, then later claimed she was from Bolpur. Police now believe she previously lived in Behala (a locality in Kolkata) and may have spent some time in Bolpur as well. She has been shifted to a local shelter home, and efforts are underway to trace and contact her family.

Sudden Exit from the Film Industry

Sumi Har Chowdhury had built a modest career in Bengali cinema. She appeared in Dwitiya Purush, a film directed by Srijit Mukherjee that received critical acclaim, and also acted alongside veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah in Khashi Katha: A Goat Saga, which was considered a significant milestone in her career. In addition to films, she also featured in television shows like Roopsagare Moner Manush and Tumi Ashe Pase Thakle.

The reason behind her sudden disappearance from the entertainment industry remains unclear, but her current condition has sparked concern among fans and the Bengali film fraternity alike.
