Yet another varsity shocker in Bengal: Girl student molested in boys' hostel

, Sept 3: A student of the city's renowned Jadavpur University has accused a group of male students of molesting her during a festival in the institute on the evening of August 28.

According to reports, the victim, a second year History (Hons) student, was allegedly attacked by 10 male students during the fest and was even dragged to the boys' hostel where she was allegedly molested. The accused students belong to the university's Arts faculty, it was reported.

The woman informed the university authorities about the incident and registered a police complaint. The police have begun investigation under sections 354 (criminal assault on a woman to outrage her modesty) and 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code against the accused. No arrests have been made so far though.

The incident in Jadavpur Univesity happened just days after a student from Sikkim was allegedly stripped and photographerd by her senior colleagues in Visva-Bharati University in the state.
