West Bengal: Harassed By Molesters, Woman Tries To End Her Life
A 20-year-old woman from Habra, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, is in critical condition after attempting suicide. She consumed poison due to relentless threats following her police complaint against molesters. The incident highlights ongoing issues of harassment and intimidation faced by victims seeking justice.
Police Action and Legal Proceedings
Authorities have arrested two individuals linked to the harassment case. These arrests followed a complaint lodged by the victim's family. The accused were presented before a court for further legal proceedings. Earlier, another man was arrested based on the woman's complaint but was released on bail.

Family's Struggle with Threats
The woman's mother expressed deep concern over the threats her daughter received. "They have been threatening my daughter, so much so that she had stopped even coming out of the house, in fear," she stated. This constant intimidation forced the young woman into isolation.
Previous Incident Raises Concerns
This tragic event follows another recent case where a minor gangrape victim succumbed to burn injuries. Initially reported as self-immolation, the girl later claimed others set her on fire in her dying declaration. Such incidents underscore the severe challenges victims face in seeking justice.
The situation in West Bengal raises serious concerns about victim safety and support systems. Continuous threats and harassment can lead to devastating outcomes for those who dare to speak out against their perpetrators. Addressing these issues is crucial for ensuring justice and protection for all victims.
