Kolkata, March 9: The BJP announced its first list of candidates for the West Bengal Assembly elections starting on April 4. The list comprising 52 names was released in the party's office in New Delhi.

Chandra Kumar Bose, grand-nephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, has been fielded against state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Shamik Bhattacharya, the saffron party's only MLA in the state, will contest from Basirhat South constituency which he represents in the Assembly. State BJP president Dilip Ghosh will contest from Kharagpur Sadar.
Actor-politicians Locket Chatterjee and Joy Banerjee will contest from Mayureshwar and Suri constituencies in Birbhum district.
Former footballer Sasthi Duley has also been given nomination for the election.
The BJP's second list is expected to be released after March 15.
West Bengal will go to a seven-phase election between April 4 and May 5. The results will be announced on May 19, along with those in three other states and one Union Territory.
