West Bengal: 82.14% final voter turnout

Kolkata, May 7: Six constituencies in West Bengal went to election on Wednesday. The Opposition in the state alleged about booth-capturing and rigging in the previous phase held on April 30 and approached the Election Commission on the matter. The latter assured to take strong measures to prevent repetition of such incidents in Wednesday's phase.

6:30 pm: 82.14% final turnout in West Bengal.

6.00 pm:
Polling concludes. BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi addresses three rallies in the state on the polling day.

5.25 pm: 81.5% polling recorded till 5 pm.

5.10 pm: A TMC supporter was allegedly attacked with weapons in Disergarh in Kulti in Asansol constituency. Sitting MP Bangsha Gopal Chowdhury said it was a non-political incident.

4.30 pm: Trinamool supporter attacked with knife in Narayangarh.

4.00 pm: Left Front chairman Biman Bose said the state police did not stop rigging in the state.

3.30 pm: 73.02% polling recorded till 3 pm.

3.10 pm: TMC supporters accused of capturing 120 booths in Bishnupur constituency. Not many observers anywhere, say local news channels.

2.40 pm: Left supporters accused TMC of booth capturing in Asansol, said police remained mere spectators.

2.35 pm: Bankura MP and CPI(M) candidate Basudeb Acharia allegedly threatened by Trinamool supporters in Mejia in the constituency. It was said that Acharia was threatened after he tried to put polling agents in some booths.

2.30 pm: BJP polling agents removed from at least 50 booths in Midnapore constituency, say local channel reports.

2.00 pm: Presiding officer in a polling booth in Purulia removed after a local Trinamool panchayat leader enters the booth to oversee polling.

1.40 pm: 61.62% polling recorded till 1 pm.

11.40 am: Central force personnel asks state police ASI to exit from a booth in Purulia. The ASI refuses, leading to a dispute.

11.15 am: 45.8% polling till 11 am.

11.10 am: Violence continues in West Bengal. Goons chop off breast of CPI(M)'s agent's relative in West Bengal, reports Bengali news channel 24 Ghanta. The shocking incident took place in Naskarpur village in Tarakeshwar in Arambag constituency.

10.56 am: CPI(M) supporter attacked in Jamuria in Asansol constituency. Charges of rigging in booths 78, 79 and 80 in Jamuria.

10.55 am: Trinamool charged of rigging in 33 booths in Garbeta under Jhargram constituency.

9.40 am: Trinamool and Left supporters clash in West Midnapore district.

9.29 am: 24% polling recorded till 9 am.

9.23 am: Three differently abled women voters assaulted in a booth in Dangalpara in Pandabeshwar in Asansol constituency.

9.10 am: Man found monitoring voting in booth 143 in Khandaghosh in Bishnupur constituency.

8.45 am: EC is just taking a cure than a prevention, says BJP candidate from Asansol Babul Supriyo on the less number of central forces that have been sent to the state. Only 21 companies of forces have been reportedly sent to the state while the requirement was for 36.

8.30 am: Protest against CPI candidate in Midnapore Prabodh Panda for flaunting MP sticker on his car. Panda is the sitting MP from this seat.

8.05 am:
Reports of technical snag in EVMs in booth no. 177 and 180. No central forces in five booths in Asansol constituency.

8.00 am: Voting underway in West Bengal. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has been accused of stopping CPI(M)'s polling agent in a booth in Bishnupur in Bankura district.
