West Bengal: 2 more arrested in suspected rape and murder of girl

Siliguri Railway Police SP Debasish Sarkar today said the arrests were made last night. With this, the total number of arrests has risen to five, Sarkar said, adding, that the two arrested had been named in the FIR lodged by the girl's father at Dhupguri police station on September 2, the same day her body was recovered.
The suspects will be produced in Sub-divisional judicial magistrate's (SDJM) court in Jalpaiguri later in the day. Altogether 13 persons were named in the FIR.
Earlier, three persons, including a juvenile, had been arrested in connection with the case.
The body of a naked girl who went to a reconciliation meeting to save her father, a farmer, from being tormented for having failed to pay for a tractor he had hired was recovered from the railway tracks at Dhupguri in Jalpaiguri district.
After identifying the body, her father lodged an FIR against 13 persons at Dhupguri police station on September 2 for the "rape, murder and kidnapping" of his daughter, police said.
