Kolkata, Dec 13: Supporters of the Yuva Trinamool Congress blocked the vehicle in which Madan Mitra, the sports and transport minister of West Bengal who was arrested by the CBI in connection to the Saradha chit fund scam on Friday outside the Alipore court where he was being taken and threw flowers on his car to show that the man is still their hero. Trinamool Congress supporters took out a rally on Saturday protesting Mitra's arrest. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also participated in the show of protest. On Friday, Banerjee said Mitra's arrest was unconstitutional and slammed the CBI and BJP government at the Centre, accusing them of playing out a political game against her party.

TMC supporters clashed with police personnel outside the court when Mitra was being taken there. Media persons were also roughed up during the clash.
Meanwhile, the city was paralysed by rallies taken out by the TMC and Opposition Left which demanded interrogation of the chief minister in connection to the Saradha scam.
Leader of Opposition Surjya Kanta Mishra said never in the history of Bengal had any minister been arrested on charges of corruption. "The chief minister should also be interrogated," he said.
