Train services on Eastern and S-E Railway remain disrupted
Kolkata, Sept 6: Train services in the Eastern and South-Eastern Railway's Howrah and Sealdah divisions continued to be affected today owing to water-logging on tracks following heavy rains.
Heavy downpour since yesterday afternoon disrupted train services of both ER and SER and left many people stranded for hours last night, though the rain fury abated this morning.

All mail and express trains of South-Eastern Railway (SER) which terminate at and originate from Howrah station, would be short-terminated at Santragachi station and would also depart from Santragachi owing to water-logging on tracks at Tikiapara and Howrah, SER spokesperson Sanjoy Ghosh said.
He said that the short termination and departure of mail express trains at Santragachi would continue till further notice.
"This has been decided due to operational constraints between Howrah and Tikiapara followed by water-logging," Ghosh said, adding all these trains would depart from Santragachi at least half an hour after their scheduled departure from Howrah station.
Train services on Eastern Railway were also affected due to water-logging at different places in both its Howrah and Sealdah divisions owing to the rains.
"Water-logging at different places of Howrah division including Howrah Station area and car-shed area has led to late running of both Up and Down train movement by 15 to 20 minutes," Eastern Railway spokesperson R N Mahapatra said.
He said that in Sealdah Division there was some water logging at Sealdah South station's platform 10 area and to some extent in the Chitpur yard area. Train services in Sealdah South Section were almost normal though there was some late running of EMU services.
On rest of the sections of Sealdah Division, train services were totally normal, Mahapatra said.
Owing to the situation, 13015/13016 Howrah-Bolpur Kaviguru Express, scheduled to leave Howrah at 10.40 PM today, was cancelled and some mail/express trains have been rescheduled for the day.
ER's 13005 Up Amritsar Mail scheduled to leave Howrah at 7.10 PM has been rescheduled at 10.00 PM, 12311 Up Kalka Mail scheduled to leave Howrah at 7.40 PM has been rescheduled at 02:00 AM tomorrow, 12321 Up Mumbai Mail via Allahabad scheduled to leave Howrah at 10.00 PM has been rescheduled at 06:30 AM tomorrow.
It has also rescheduled 12333 Up Vibhuti Express which was scheduled to leave Howrah at 8.00 PM to 9.10 PM today.
